Revolutionise Clean-In-Place with our unique impedance technology: Save water, boost production.
The 4T2 Sensors impedance sensor is based on simple mechanics and intelligent electronics. Using this technology, 4T2 sensors measure three fluid properties with unparalleled accuracy: conductivity (the ability of a fluid to transfer charge), capacitance (the ability of a fluid to hold a charge), and temperature. The patented signal processing algorithm developed by 4T2 Sensors enables real-time determination of fluid concentrations, contaminants, and mixtures, with the capability to detect Caustic levels in real-time down to parts per billion (PPB).
Temperature dependence is a crucial consideration for capacitance and conductivity measurements. Recognising this, 4T2 Sensors has developed High-Resolution Contact Thermometry, which achieves a temperature measurement resolution of ±0.02°C. This is achieved using Negative Thermal Coefficients (NTCs) and the patented signal processing algorithms applied to the capacitance and conductivity measurements. Accurate temperature measurements are then used in novel temperature compensation algorithms, enabling precise temperature compensation across a wide range of temperatures and further enhancing the accuracy of the capacitance and conductivity measurements.
As mentioned in previous blog posts, earlier generations of sensors faced challenges in CIP operations due to turbulent fluids and the associated entrained air. By leveraging the unique capacitance measurement of 4T2 Sensors, air can be compensated for and applied to the conductivity measurement, providing a clearer understanding of the fluid running through the pipe. This instils greater confidence in operators and control systems, ensuring that any automations are driven by fluid composition rather than fluid anomalies. As a result, real-time control and optimization of the CIP process become possible.
4T2 Sensors’ design is rooted in mechanical simplicity, eliminating the need for moving parts or optics. This significantly reduces maintenance requirements. Additionally, all components are made from industry-standard stainless steel 316 or PEEK for durability. The impedance sensor is designed to fit inline with minimal modifications to pipework, adhering to 50 DIN standards. Alternatively, the sensor can be placed on a bypass, providing flexibility in installation options.
